"I anxiously looked around, my heart palpitating, just in time to see an alligator slink into the green algae covered water that was on either side of us. I swallowed hard, and my heart raced even faster. Alligators were a different type of predator—the one thing I was afraid of. Now I was on my own personal swamp tour. What if my kidnappers left me in the middle of a swamp with five of them creeping up on me? I’ve had that nightmare before and—oh no, if my dreams really are a sign of the future—I couldn’t breathe now."

Adriana couldn’t decide what was worse—that Hurricane Katrina was heading for New Orleans, or that she might not survive her kidnapping to see its potential effects. She had trusted Hayden, even fallen for him, and now he and his brother Luke were taking her deeper and deeper into the Bayou. Why had two of her classmates, the mysterious Boudreaux brothers, kidnapped her? Why had Adriana’s dreams started predicting the future? Most importantly, would she make it out of the Bayou alive…

Interview & Contest: Selena Robins

Jen: Today we are happy to welcome Selena Robins to Romancing the Book.  Selena, will you please share a short bio with us?
Selena: Thank you thank you for this opportunity to showcase my work to your readers, I appreciate the support.

Genre-defying, witty, humorous, suspenseful, romantic and sexy--words used to describe Selena's novels. A chocolate guru, she loves to dance with her dog, sing into her hairbrush and write in her PJ's. In love with her family, friends, books, laughter, hockey, lively discussions and red wine (sometimes all at the same time). Selena is a dragon slayer who enjoys reading and writing sassy heroines and hot heroes (the ones your mamma warned you about, but secretly wished she'd dated a few in her life).

Interview & Contest: Jenn LeBlanc

Jen: Please help us welcome Jenn LeBlanc to Romancing the Book.  Jenn, will you please share a short bio with us?
Jenn: I have several constants in life that define me:
Colorado, Canon, CJ, kids and curls.

Born and raised in a household of other people’s children in this beautiful state —very nearly with a camera in hand— I never left. I started my own family, got used to the curls, went to college, built a CJ, and started a business, all with a camera in hand.

I always had another passion; storytelling born from daydreams and nightmares. My fingers were never as quick as my mind, and no amount of practice got them there, so it was difficult and frustrating to have this inside me. When my second daughter was born her inherent traits kept me pinned— my only escape the keyboard. Spending my days in parenting chat rooms I got highly adept with one-handed typing and I can still type just about as fast with one hand as I can with two. It’s a great talent to have when engrossed in a scene and in need of a hit of caffeine. I recently finished my first novel but I quickly realized: I was born a photographer.

Francine Larrabee woke up on the wrong side of the century. She was fairly certain she went to sleep in her own comfy bed, but she doesn't quite seem to be there now. Only adding to her problems is that she has no voice, is constantly being glowered at by a large, stunning man who is obsessed with propriety, and she is apparently betrothed to another horrid little man, determined to ruin her, and any other girls that get in his way.

How does she find herself in the past, when she couldn't even find herself in her present? How does a self sufficient businesswoman survive in a time when women were still considered property for the whole of their lives and what is she going to do with this man who draws her to him so fiercely.

Meet the Reviewers: Laci

Hello, my name is Laci. I’m 31 years old and live in a tiny town in central Mississippi. I have a large, crazy family that insists on knowing everything that goes on in each of our respective lives. I have 3 siblings, the oldest of them will be celebrating 25 years of marriage this year, and between them all, a grand total of 7 nieces and nephews. Both of my parents had large families, so there is never a shortage of crazy relatives to talk about. I have 2 cats who never fail to make me laugh.

I can’t remember a time when I didn’t enjoy reading, and as a result, I was always in search of a good book. I was given a kindle as a Christmas gift last year and it goes everywhere with me. I have immensely enjoyed having all my favorite books at my fingertips without having to pick and choose which one to take with me whenever I travel. It is definitely much easier finding new authors and new books to read when you can go online and have the book in your hands within mere seconds. My love of reading has only increased since I was given my kindle and I can’t wait to share my thoughts on them with you all. I am willing to read in the following genres: paranormal romance, general romance, historical romance, contemporary, etc. I prefer ebook format, but if that’s not available, I do accept bound books.

It is so hard to choose a favorite book. If I had to choose, I would have to say a series of books by Katie MacAlister called the Aisling Grey series. I am also a huge fan of Harry Potter, The Twilight Saga, and The Chronicles of Narnia.

Playlist: A Man of His Word by Sarah Anderson

A lot of authors can’t listen to music with words while writing. I am not one of those people. I write best when I have someone singing in the background. Listening to music focuses the random parts of my brain on a specific task—ignoring the lyrics—that frees the rest of my mind up for writing. It sounds counterintuitive, but hey—it works for me!

So what do I listen to/ignore while writing? I have an eclectic taste in music—country, Top 40 pop, metal that ranges from hair to heavy, a lot of classics from the 50s, 60s, and 70s—you name it, I’ll listen to it. The only thing I don’t like is reggae. I like to use music to set a mood. For writing the sad scenes in A Man of His Word, my go-to songs include:

Meet the Reviewers: Terri N

I’m Terri N from Alabama. I’m married to my best friend. It’s like a romance novel come to life. We have a hyper, sweet and funny six year old son and a cat that until recently was named Maggie but turns out is a Max.

Reading has been a part of who I am for as long as I can remember. My favorite book as a child was Charlotte’s Web. I probably checked it out of the library a hundred times. Now I prefer to read Paranormal and Suspense, adult and YA. Whatever genre it’s in as long as it’s a good read I’ll read it. I love the smell of books, old or new. My dream job would be to own a book store. My honey offered to buy me a Kindle when they first came out and I turned him down. I told him there’s nothing like holding a book in your hands. Last year I relented and he got me one for Christmas. I could kick myself for not taking him up on his offer sooner!

Picking a favorite book would be like picking a favorite child. (I’m assuming this since I only have one child). Here are some of my favorite Authors: Anne Rice, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Beverly Barton, Carla Swafford, Charlaine Harris, Jennifer Echols, Kresley Cole, Karen Marie Moning, P.C and Kristin Cast and of course I love the Harry Potter and Twilight books.

Between listening to books from the library and reading books I go through about seven or eight a month. My husband is amazed that I can read while he’s got the T.V blasting, our son is running, screaming through the house and both of them are talking to me at the same time. I tend to talk to the characters in the books I’m reading and I get sad when a good one ends.

I’ve gone on many adventures by reading good books and I plan to take many, many more trips.

Guest & Contest: Jennifer Estep

Last week we posted our review of Kiss of Frost.  This week, our reviewer, Valerie, is interviewing Gwen, the star of the Mythos Academy Series.  Sit back and enjoy!

Valerie: In Kiss of Frost, you've been training very hard, yet not feeling very successful. How frustrating is it going to a school where all the other students seem to know how to use some sort of weapon?
Gwen: It is so totally frustrating. All the other kids have been training with weapons for years, so I have a lot of ground to make up. Everyone is so much better than I am at fighting. It’s really discouraging at times. Plus, everyone seems to know such much more than I do about the evil god Loki and his Reapers of Chaos. It’s frustrating, but I’m not giving up. I’m going to do my best to catch up to the other kids. I’m going to have to, given all the Reaper bad guys who just seem to keep coming after me.

Meet the Reviewers: Marissa

Ke aloha nō! My name is Marissa and after spending 25 years in the snowy mountains of California and Oregon, I have finally moved to the warm and wonderful state of Hawai`i. I grew up in Northern California near the coast, so beaches are not new to me, but the warm waters of the South Pacific are. I am a mother of one, grandmother of two and I have been adopted by a loveable Beagle who keeps me going when things get tough. Reading started out very early for me and my reading time is something I’ve come to work into my schedule whenever and wherever I can - on the bus, waiting in long lines, while eating alone and even in bars!

Currently packed away in a storage unit is the equivalent of a small library – probably about 50 boxes of books altogether. Then there are the new books I am starting to collect here in Hawai`i. I’ve probably added two more boxes already! And this does not include the e-books I’ve been amassing over the last few years… Hi, my name is Marissa and I am an addict. (Well, better this than something illegal.)

Meet the Reviewers: Deborah

My name is Deborah I live in North Carolina, I work in the pharmaceutical field. I LOVE to read and I love sewing/quilting. My family is very important to me, I have two sons, three grandchildren and a min pin (my four legged daughter). My sister and my mom are my best friends. I live with my sister and her family and we love animals. Our house has four dogs, two rabbits, two mini goats, one cat, one lovebird and 2 horses (stabled nearby).
I have a kindle and a nook so I read lots of eBooks and print books too (my bookcase is overflowing). I love reading romance whether it’s contemporary, historical, western (cowboy butts drive me nuts!), erotica, suspense and some paranormal. I have a personal blog www.lovetoreadromance.com that I started last year. Some of my favorite authors are Lori Foster, Maya Banks, Lisa Kleypas, Kat Martin, Kristin Higgins, Ashley March, Eloisa James, Christina Dodd, and many others!  I guess my favorite book(s) would have to be the series by Lori Foster, Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor including When You Dare, Savor the Danger, Trace of Fever, and there’s one more coming out next year. I very seldom re-read books but I have read these three twice each!

When she is not frantically getting two kids to and from school, to cheer practice, or cleaning up the after a full household she enjoys reading anything and everything she can get her hands on. After a few years of simply reading for enjoyment she began to get excellent ideas for stories of her very own and began to write them as much as time will allow. Watching as her dreams and characters become solid on paper has been exciting to say the least. Drea can’t wait to share every dream one story at a time. Until then she enjoys tons of conversation and laughs on twitter, facebook, and yahoo loops and would love to hear from you on any or all of them.

Thankful for the Holidays Blog Hop (Int).

Reviews by Molly and Romancing the Book are hosting the Thankful for the Holidays Blog Hop.

For our stop, we're offering up 2 prizes of $10 to the Book Depository.  The contest is open internationally if TBD ships to your country.  And I'm keeping this contest entry easy since it's the holiday season.  To enter all you have to do is enter your name and email address in the Rafflecopter form.

Once you're done at RtB and you've checked out our other contests (in the left hand sidebar), go visit the other blogs in the hop.  The links are found after the Rafflecopter form.  And if you're a blog owner and want to join in the fun and the option to submit a link is there, go for it.  We'd love to have you join us.
