Hi MJB, thanks for your comments. I read romance stories of almost every subgenre, but recently erotica (either paranormal or contemporary) has been my focus. Heat level definitely matters - the hotter, the better - but the sex better be written well and serve a purpose, unless the story is just sex scenes and doesn't try to be anyting else. Hi Jennifer, I love some kind of romance in the books I read. First off I have to relate to my characters and care about them - feel what they feel and are going through. I want them to find love and be able to hold on to it. Its a wonderful feeling when the ending is HEA!

I read romance because it is romance. It doesn't matter if it is funny and tough to read there is always the love. I don't always need a HEA because sometimes a HFN is what is needed. In fact, if the book is part of a series that builds up, I can live without the happy ending because of the promise of future happy.

I'd have to say that for me, what's important in the romance, isn't necessarily the heat level or the length but the chemistry between the main characters, m/f, m/m m/f/m. It has to be natural and believable.
