She Likes Him Bad by Scarlett Scott

Publisher: Ellora’s Cave
Pages: 43
Source: ebook provided by the publisher

Emma Lee Bridges is back in her tiny hometown for the first time in years. Not even twenty-four hours after hitting the landing strip, she’s already forced to face the boy she loved and left behind. But Jackson isn’t exactly the boy she remembers. Now the sexy owner of a successful mechanic shop, he takes one look at Emma and wants her back—permanently. The sex between them is downright flammable, the chemistry they share as wild as ever. And this time around, Emma has to decide if she wants to run or stay for good.

Review: I really enjoyed this story and how Scarlett Scott made each character a part of the story. I kept turning the pages to see just how the two of them would work things out if it was possible and something that they BOTH wanted. I kept thinking there is no way this relationship is going to work if these two will not let their love help them work it all out and they were mature enough to take the risk and open their hearts completely. I would recommend She Likes Him Bad if you need a fast read.

Smooth Play cover
Smooth Play by Regina Hart

Publisher: Kensington Publishing
Page Count: 352

A passion for the game is what it takes to win. But off the court, it takes a different kind of savvy to heat things up. . .

He’s part problem-solver and dream-maker. There’s not a crisis he can’t avert. And handling the NBA’s most explosive team has put PR ace Troy Marshall at the top of his game. It also gives him a chance to give back to the community. But one determined reporter is messing with his flow. And he’ll need way more than skill and charm to win this tempting one-on-one. . .

Andrea Benson’s instincts tell her that something major is going on behind-the-scenes with this franchise. And a headline story is the only way she can regain the career and good name she let slip away. But Troy’s sincerity is throwing her for an unexpected–and very seductive–loop. Can they trust each other enough to uncover the truth. . .or will too many secrets be their breaking point?

Review: Smooth Play by Regina Hart is the second book in her Brooklyn Monarchs trilogy. I was not disappointed at all in this second book. Ms. Hart did a great job of letting us see how these two characters want to fight their feelings for each other but come together in the end. The lead characters both love what they do for a living, but both have regrets in things they have said and done in the past, but are willing to work on their mistakes. Troy has a hard time letting the past go and is slowly learning to trust again and Andrea has a very big heart, but is leery of herself when she is near Troy. Smooth Play is a perfect title for this romance, for while the main characters have issues with themselves and their potential other, when they need to come together, they do so and work it as a “Smooth Play” – in other words, they work it together as a team, for both each other and the team’s. Smooth Play is a must read and I think once you’ve finished it, you’ll find yourself looking for more Regina Hart books, as well as Patricia Sargeant.

Every Girl Does It
Every Girl Does It by Rachel Van Dyken
Release Date: May 1, 2011
Publisher: CreateSpace
Page Count: 190
Source: ebook provided by the author

Amanda turned down Preston’s prom invitation in front of her entire high school, but that was eight years ago. Somehow, her past mistakes always have a way of catching up with her, and making her pay. Amanda’s sarcastic wit mixed with Preston’s insufferable ego make sparks fly in more than one way. Preston, against his better judgment can’t fight the desire to get under Amanda’s skin and mercilessly tease her, but when that teasing becomes flirting, and flirting becomes something dangerously more, neither of them are prepared for the adventure that follows.

Review: It has been eight years since Amanda turned down Preston’s request to go to the prom with him in front of their entire High School. Eight years is a very long time for Preston to hold a grudge but is that what he has in mind when they meet up again?

This is a laugh out loud book, for you never know if it is time for her to pay back in Preston’s mind, or is it Amanda feeling bad for the way she treated him in high school. Amanda is very childish and jumps to conclusion through the whole book. How Preston puts up with them I do not know but he must either be out for revenge or could he actually be in love with her still?

Preston has matured a lot on many levels, including the fact that he’s a fireman with abs that is better described as a washboard. Amanda can’t run from how she feels about him but she always wonders if it is payback time.

This is a funny read and one you will enjoy. There is some deceit with these two but I really think it is one you will enjoy reading even with some of the child like things that are written.
